Urgent Care for Well-Woman Physicals

Well-Woman Physicals are a yearly preventative check-up that is separate from other visits related to sickness and injury. These physicals focus on prevention and are a time to talk to your healthcare professional about what you can do to reach your health goals.

At Bayside Urgent Care Center we are committed to caring for women at every stage of life. Our caring staff works to establish a trusting, lasting relationship with all our patients. We care about your well-being and help you make informed decisions about your health and wellness.

We are located in Clearwater, Florida, and we’re always accepting new patients. No appointments are necessary.

Why is a Well-Woman Physical Important?

Well-woman physicals are important because they focus on prevention and what you can do right now to avoid illness — or chronic conditions — later. Preventive care is essential to your quality of life.

During your exam at Bayside Urgent Care Center, a medical professional will assess your health, and it’s the perfect chance for you to discuss any concerns you have and ask questions.

Depending on your age, the following are some topics you may want to discuss:

  • Family planning and pregnancy preparation
  • Eating healthy foods
  • Getting more active
  • Mental health issues
  • Screenings for your age group
  • Vaccinations

What Can I Expect During a Well-Woman Physical?

Well-woman physicals include a review of your general and sexual health history, a review of your current medications, and a physical exam. We may also schedule laboratory and other testing based on your age and health history.

We will record and perform the following during your visit and exam:

  • Height and weight.
  • Vital signs (temperature, pulse, respirations, and blood pressure)
  • A clinical breast exam
  • A pelvic exam

What Information Will You Ask Me?

To create an accurate picture of your overall health so we can make recommendations, we will ask questions about your lifestyle and habits. Some of the common topics we cover include:

  • Health problems you are currently experiencing
  • Your family’s medical history (i.e., cancer, high blood pressure, etc.)
  • Your activity level
  • Medications, vitamins, supplements that you take
  • Tobacco, alcohol, or drug use
  • Mental health issues
  • And more!

What Are Examples of Additional Testing I May Need?

Health screenings and additional testing is usually based on your age and health history. Some typical examples are:

  • Mammogram
  • Colonoscopy
  • Bloodwork to check cholesterol and blood sugar levels
  • Bone density screenings
  • HPV (human papillomavirus that can cause cancer)

What To Bring When You Visit

Know your family medical history and be prepared to give this information to the doctor. Make a list of any questions that you may have for the doctor regarding birth control, getting pregnant, STDs, or any other medical questions.

To help us treat you more effectively, please be prepared to tell us about any medications you take (including vitamins and supplements), past illnesses and surgeries, and your primary care doctor’s phone number and address so we can transfer records, if necessary.

Does Bayside Urgent Care Accept Insurance for Physicals?

For most Bayside Urgent Care services, we do accept insurance. However, we do NOT accept insurance for physicals. These must be paid for out-of-pocket. This is true for annual physicals, sports physicals, surgical clearance, and the rest. You will find these exams are reasonably priced.
