While vision tests can be done by an optometrist, you often have to wait for weeks for an appointment. At Bayside Urgent Care Center, we include these tests as part of all of the physicals we offer.

What is a Vision Test?

Vision testing is an eye exam consisting of simple diagnostic tests that can determine if your eyes are working correctly. This generally includes an examination of the patient’s eyes along with an evaluation of their ability to read letters on a chart at a distance. These tests are safe for both children and adults.

When to Seek Emergency Treatment?

If you are experiencing difficulties with your eyes, this could indicate that something is going wrong that could require immediate attention. Call 911 or seek treatment at your nearest emergency room if you experience any of the following:

  • Sudden loss of vision.
  • If you see objects floating before you.
  • Flashing lights.
  • Pain in or on your eyes.
  • Pain behind or around the eyes.
  • Light sensitivity or pain, especially after wearing contact lenses while sleeping.
  • Swollen or inflamed eyes.

What To Bring When You Visit For Your Eye Exam

Know your family medical history and be prepared to give this information to the doctor. To help us treat you more effectively, please be prepared to tell us about any medications you take. Also, let us know of any vitamins and supplements you use. Tell us about any past illnesses and surgeries. Lastly, bring your primary care doctor’s phone number and address so we can transfer records, if necessary.

Does Bayside Urgent Care Accept Insurance?

For most Bayside Urgent Care services, we do accept insurance. However, we do NOT accept insurance for physicals. These exams must be paid out-of-pocket. This includes sports physicals, surgical clearance physicals, well-woman physicals, etc. You will find these exams are reasonably priced.
